HOW TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO PLATO

PLATO is not unlike many other educational institutions, but there are some key differences.  We’re not working to build a career, nor are we here to satisfy anyone other than ourselves.  Participation is entirely voluntary, and in most cases, we wind up investing far more years with PLATO than with our alma maters.

The net result of these differences:  The PLATO experience can be more joyful, meaningful and satisfying.  If you have found PLATO to offer these rewards, we invite you to join with many others in supporting PLATO financially.

PLATO is not only self-governing, but also self sustaining.  Like most educational institutions we have three primary sources of funds:  Tuition; Annual Giving; Endowment Giving.

Many members have found contributing to PLATO to be an excellent way to commemorate lifecycle events such as an important birthday or anniversary, to memorialize a notable life, or simply as a way of saying “thank you” to PLATO for an experience that has enriched your life.

Our Annual Giving program permits us to secure additional funding for current operations.  As a result of Annual Giving we can enrich the PLATO experience while maintaining affordable dues.  You may assist PLATO by making a tax-deductible Annual Giving donation.  Click here for an Annual Giving donation form or get one from the PLATO Office.  Then return your completed form with your contribution, by credit card, or by check made out to The PLATO Society. Send it to The PLATO Society, 1083 Gayley Ave. – 2nd floor, Los Angeles, CA 90024- 1333. Donations of any amount are helpful and appreciated.

Another financial support program, The Endowment Fund, was created in 1998 by a group of PLATO members.
It has grown since then by contributions from current and past members and by re-investing the Fund’s earnings.  It was established to provide funds to finance PLATO’s own permanent facilities when the right opportunity presents itself.  A portion of the annual earnings from this Endowment Fund can also be used to help meet current PLATO needs, such as rent. The Endowment Fund is professionally managed by the UCLA Foundation. The larger the Endowment, the greater the contribution both to PLATO’s current needs from the interest earned and to PLATO’s future home.  To invest in the future of PLATO by making a tax-deductible contribution to the Endowment Fund, get an Endowment Contribution form at the PLATO Office.  Then mail or bring to the Office:
1083 Gayley Ave. – 2nd floor, Los Angeles, CA 90024- 1333

All contributions are greatly appreciated and will be individually acknowledged.
